History &
Development of
Elicina Cream
and
Balm
Elicina:The
Secret of the
South American
Beauty Elicina Cream
was developed
as a result of
the discovery
of the
beneficial
effect of
Chilean snail
extract on
human hands.
The wondrous
effect of
Elicina Cream
was discovered
by the
Bascunan
family. In 1980, the
family (from
Chile) had a
snail farm to
raise snails
for export for
consumption in
France. The
snail handlers
noticed how
quickly minor
cuts healed
without
infections or
scars as well
as the unusual
softness of
their
hands.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Elicina Cream
was close to
becoming a
reality. Dr. Fernando
Bascunan
Ygualt,
conducted a
rigorous study
of “Helix
Aspersa
Muller”
Chilean snail
extract,
confirming the
healing
process on
human skin.
The next step
was to patent
the product
via the World
Organisation
of Patents of
Invention in
Geneva,
Switzerland.
Thus Elicina
Cream was
born.
|
|
|
Elicina Cream
was launched
very
successfully
in the South
American
market in
January 1995
and continues
today to be a
family
company.

EXTRACT
AND FINISHED
PRODUCTS
The analysis
carried out on
“Helix Aspersa
Muller” snail
extract proved
that it
contained, in
the natural
form, the
following
properties:-

What
they say about
Elicina
Cream
|
|
|
Allantoin
in its natural
form.
Allantoin
makes the
regeneration
of the skin
possible. The
snail has the
capacity of
regenerating
its own shell
by using
calcium,
obtained
through the
diet.
Proteins and
Vitamins
resulting in
richness and
softness of the
skin. These are
present through
the snail’s diet
which consists
entirely of
vegetables.
Collagen and
Elastin
the main
components of the
human skin and
connective
tissue.
Glycolic
Acid
(found in its
natural state in
the snail
secretion) makes
the exfoliation of
skin possible,
eliminating dead
cells that are on
the skin surface.
The snail
secretion contains
about 1.6%
glycolic
acid.
As a result of
this analysis,
a product for
cosmetic
treatment was
formed. The
laboratory
Lacofar in
Chile
conducted
microbiological
tests to
determine the
purity of the
snail’s
extract.
15
long years of
hard work are
the result of
what we have
in our hands
today.

LABORATORY
PRODUCTION
|
|
|
Around 9,000
snails are cared
for by trained
personel.
|
|
The snails are
kept under the
best
conditions of
humidity,
temperature,
hygiene and
nutrition,
similar to
their natural
environment.
|
|
|
No chemicals are
used in their
diet.
|
|
|
The Bascunan
family’s
secret process
is used to
extract serum,
which is sent
to the
Cosmetic
Pharmaceutical
Laboratory who
conduct
microbiological
and
bacteriological
tests required
by the Chilean
Health
Authorities.
|
|
|
The laboratory
mixes the extract
and the final
product passes
through quality
control tests, is
bottled, packed
and ready to be
distributed.
|
|
|
Elicina has a
shelf life of
3
years.
It must be
kept under
standard room
temperature
(17C
approx).
